Welcome to the Basingstoke Conservation Forum website

The Basingstoke Conservation Forum is the collective for the conservation groups which operate within Basingstoke & Deane. The Borough Council  encourage and support these voluntary efforts, and the  Council staff do a vital job in promoting and supporting and  environmental action and awareness. We could not  succeed in our aims without them!

The primary aim of this site is to provide an internal resource for our constituent conservation groups. However, please feel free to surf around and find out about the projects and activities going on.

Here is a list of our constituant groups with contact details.

The individual conservation groups are sometimes quite small with only a handful of dedicated enthusiasts. The forum helps pool resources, organise  training and aids communication with other like-minded friends and groups.

If you feel enthused by what you find, all the groups welcome new active members! It's great fun, keeps us fit, it's educational, our activities improve biodiversity and you can see the difference we are making!

The Forum meets just 3 -4 times a year to set priorities and agree actions, which are then pursued  by working groups. The working groups use this website to keep members up to date with their progress (See Diary and Training pages below).

Our individual groups conserve a wide

variety of habitat and residents!

These range from coppice with dormice, ponds with great crested newts and countryside with ancient trees. We conserve several LNRs (Local Nature Reserves)and  a water meadow that has achieved SINC status (Site of Importance for Nature Conservation)
